Mohammad Yousaf Khan Leghari

Muhammad Yousaf Leghari is an agriculturalist and an ex-member of Parliament (MPA) from Dera Ghazi Khan. He has served two tenures as a Member of Parliament between 2002-07 and 2008-13. Having graduated from the University of Buckingham in BSc. Biology and Society, he returned to Pakistan from the U.K, to serve the people of his district via legislation in the provincial assembly. He has operated vital positions as a Member of the Standing Committee of Law & Parliamentary Affairs in both of his stints and as a member of the significant Public Accounts Committee in his first tenure. His vast experience in politics and know-how in rural life & agriculture has driven him to be an agent for change in these modern times. He is a keen admirer of sustainable farming, water conservation and empowering locals to form a living from the land they farm. As chairperson, he is leading the efforts towards ABAD Foundation in realizing its ultimate goals of economically and socially empowering indigenous rural communities & minority groups in the rural areas of Pakistan; starting from his home district, Dera Ghazi Khan.

Ali Ahmad Khan Leghari

Ali Ahmad Khan Leghari is an agriculturalist farming in D.G.Khan, South Punjab. Ali has previously worked with the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform as a Young Development Fellow (YDF) as part of the infrastructure and regional connectivity team. Having completed his Master’s in International Development from Northumbria University, UK. Ali possesses a keen interest in exploring the link between governance, environmental resources, and sustainability. His thesis focused on the importance of renewable energy inclusion in a rapidly changing energy climate and depleting natural resources, with a strong link towards achieving the U.N Sustainable development goals linked with energy. He is a keen admirer of off-grid farming with reliance on water conservation through drip irrigation, solar-powered farms and reservoir building for the catchment of rainwater. He currently implements such methods and is proving to be an inspiration to neighboring farmers for employing farming techniques which are environment friendly and sustainable in the long run.

Narmeen Fayyaz Leghari

Narmeen Fayyaz is a political economist and a development professional. Having completed her Master’s in Political Economy from the University of York, and Bachelor’s in Economics and Management, Narmeen has taught Politics of International Economic Relations and Political Economy at Quaid-I-Azam University. Narmeen has previously worked on various research studies with UNWOMEN, Deakin University, and various other think tanks. Her interest lies in exploring the interlink between sustainable agriculture, climate change, eco-feminism, and women empowerment. She is keen on exploring how pressing global challenges impact rural economies of developing countries like Pakistan, and how SGDs can be indigenized and implemented at the grass-root level within the national human security framework.
